    Hi

I wonder if you can help. First time of hatching chicks. Need to know what sex these are. They are 3 weeks so I know it is early days. Problem is living in a residential area we can not have cockerels and don't want the school children to get attached to them.

sorry, but it's still too early to tell for certain.

The first three could easily be cockerels, or they could be production bred pullets.

Try again around 5-6 weeks, we'll see how things turn out then.

1 and 3 look like cockerels 2 is hard to tell and 4 I can't see the comb. The top 3 could be some large comb breed but, otherwise at least two of them are cocks.

I believe that 1 is a sussex buff and 3 is a rhode Isand red. 2 and 4 are a cross between a warren and spangled orpington if that helps.

I think the first 3 are cockerels. That's A LOT of comb for so young a bird, and they're pinking up already. As for the last baby, I can't really get a good view of its face. [IMG]
