Can anyone tell me what breed these girls are?

Both are GREAT brooders and the little gray one is the sweetest girl ever! The white one... not so much! [IMG]

I think the white could be a black tailed white japanese bantam, her legs look short? and appears to have a single comb?

Yes, her legs are very short. You can't even see them when she walks. Yes, single comb. Thank you!

The first one looks a lot like my cousin the chicken whisperer's silver phoenix hen.

The white one is almost certainly a BTWJ, as prior posters have said.

I have one of the grey ones that I got from the mixed bantam cage at TSC. She is the sweetest of my chickens just like you. I named her Chipmunk because she had the chipmunk brown stripes when she was a little chick. She actually likes to get held and due to her super sweet disposition (and small size) gets to eat right out of my hand instead of throwing elbows at the food bowl LOL.

First one probably a game bantam hen? [IMG]

Quote:Yes! She was my little chimpmunk, as well. When I get near her, she squats down and spreads her wings out for pets on her back. She lays very small eggs and is now setting on a clutch of several different eggs from the flock. I swore when she got out of the chick stage that someone had snuck a pidgeon into the assorted bantam cage at the local farm and fleet! [IMG] Haha
