Can anyone tell me what this growth or scab is?

Can anyone tell me what this growth or scab is on this pullet? It looks to be on its neck just behind the ear. Thank you in advance.

It could possibly be fowl pox, but the ear is pretty swollen. I would be inclined to check out the ear canal for pus or drainage, and treat orally with some antibiotics. Amoxicillin, Clavamox, or SMZ-TMP (Bactrim) would be some suggestions, but only available from a vet. Secondary infections can be common with pox, but ear infections can also be common. To me it looks like she may have been pecked/nipped by another chicken.
It will most likely heal up and fall off on it's own. You can apply some Blue Kote or plain neosporin if you feel like she needs it.

I don't know.....it doesn't look like the typical chicken on chicken wound, how old is the wound in that pic and are there flies on it.

Someone finally told me how to upload a picture...



The picture is of a BCM pullet I sold to someone last week. This growth is only a week old because I'm sure I would have noticed it otherwise. There are no flies in the picture.

It has been suggested to me that this is Fowl Pox and on closer inspection of my very large flock, I see what looks like dry pox on several of my roosters combs in my rooster pen. I had just thought they were battle scars but on closer inspection I think it is fowl pox so I am going to go ahead and treat all my chickens with the fowl pox vaccine. I was told to separate the ones with symptoms and do not vaccinate them but what would happen if I do vaccinate a chicken that already shows symptoms? Do they get sicker or is it just ineffective?

Eggcessive... I looked through the links you provided and mentioned what you said about the ear to my customer and she confirmed that the growth is her ear. She is going to take another picture for me and I will post it when I receive it. Thanks so much again!

Here is a better picture of it but it looks like it has gotten bigger. Looks like an ear infection like in the links you provided. Thanks for steering me in the right direction but Yikes... don't know if they will be able to deal with it. I immediately told them to bring her back but I think they are kinda attached to her already. I will give them the option in any event.
