Hi I was just wondering if mandarin ducks could live in with call ducks and wyandottes??
Call ducks yes chickens no.
Why can't they live with chickens.
My ducks live with my chickens just fine. Let them establish the Pecking order and they'll be fine.
Mandarin ducks are so small, and the chickens could beat up on them pretty bad.
No mandarins cannot live with chickens becuase if they get sick from the chickens it's lights out! If you keep call ducks separate from the chickens with the mandarins it should be fine
Do you have exotics ?
It's all about how you introduce. You can't just chuck the ducks into the chicken coop. You have a slowly integrate just like you would integrate ducklings into the duck flock.
1. Put them close by in an enclosure where they can see and talk to each other but not harm. (Do this for a week)
2. Supervised co-mingling forage time (a week)
3. Do things that solidify the flock unity (I.e treat time together, feed time together, and eventually bed time together.) chickens roost and ducks don't, so bed time is actually a safe time.
I have silkie chickens with my Buffs, blue swedish and pekins.
What ducks can live with call ducks and chickens??
