I've been putting fresh glass clippings in our compost. With the frequent rain, the grass clipping get pretty wet in the compost. I'd like to let the chicks (5 weeks old) practice rooting through the compost, but I've heard that wet grass clippings can make chickens really sick. Any thoughts?

Never hurt mine and i have a cyclone rake that i use when i am mowing, i end up with thousands of pounds of clippings in piles, i use it to mulch around my garden but the chickens/chicks go crazy on them piles till they heat up.

As long as your chicks have acess to to grit/sand they will be fine, you mentioned that they are digging in the mulch pile so i am sure they get plenty of grit to help their digestion process.
