like hearts, lungs, intestines? i recently read a blog where someone was giving them those parts after dressing out some rabbits for the freezer.

I guess you could, but why would you want to?

They love it. Chickens are omnivors and meat really shows a change in their feathering and health. It is good for them. I boil up meat scraps from my kitchen to feed to mine. I am also raising meat rabbits now and plan to use what we don't eat for animal feed supplements.

I will have to show this thread to DH & DS. They have chidded me for feeding boiled chicken scraps to my chicks.

miss prissy: thanks for your response. a young friend of ours is raising rabbits for meat and tried it out. i wasn't sure of the sensibility of it. seems like i read somewhere not to feed chickens what you yourself wouldn't eat - but maybe that was just for spoiled food.

do you raise your rabbits for meat? we were thinking of trying to do so as well, but first i have to eat some rabbit to see if i like it... than my sweet husband will have to do the deed - not me!
