Can chickens gang up on a small predator?

I was wondering if chickens will gang up on, or defend themselves against small predators? Or is that the rooster's job? :3

Well, good question! At night, when it's dark, all the chickens will go cryptic, which means, they get very very still. This is a natural defensive behavior they have. It does help them hide, but it also makes them sitting ducks.

The rooster will defend the flock. I'm not so sure if a hen will. I think they would run away if they were able. I honestly haven't seen a hen try and go after a predator.

One of my chickens pecked my arm and the skin turned purple. I'm sure they are able to gang up on a small predator if they want to.
However, they can't see very well at night and they are what they are: chicken.
