One of my hens has what looks like a wart on her eye lid and another on her face. Can chickens get herpes? What could these be? They are skin colored.

    Thanks

That sounds like it could be the beginning of Fowl Pox. Can you get a picture?

Will the other hens get it too? Can I eat the eggs?

Looks like fowl pox. Yes, the others will get it. Looks like the dry type, not a huge deal. If you want to, you can dab the spots with iodine to dry them up or leave them alone and they will on their own.

Some of the viruses that chickens contract are herpes-type viruses, meaning they become carriers of that disease even after they seem to recover.

I think it's okay to eat the eggs; after all, you aren't medicating them with antibiotics, so why not?

Ok, so i can go PHEW!! And breathe out, I thought it was going to be a big deal. I've had chickens for 2 years now and I cannot believe all the problems they can have! I have learned a lot though!

Thank you, I hope this clears up quickly.
