can chickens swim?

    My kids and i were sitting here talking about my chickens. The topic came up can they swim? Can someone answer that.

    I'd like to know that also. I imagine they would drown quickly. Maybe someone else will know for sure. [​IMG]

    No, they don't swim. If they fall into deep water they may be able to float for a very short time but eventually will drown if they can't get out.

    I wouldn't think they could actually swim. Not like ducks anyways. But I was always wondering if one fell in the pool if it would drown. They don't go near it. I'm sure it has happened to someone on here that could answer that.

    There was a pic a few days ago with 3 beautiful girls (human kind) in a swimming pool with another beautiful girl (chicken kind) and the chicken was floating

    When you google this, you find claims that once their feathers become saturated, they will sink and drown.
