Can chickens/guineas taste their food, can they smell? I have always wondered this.

I would think they can, why else would they be picky about what they eat and like?

A quick google search says that they can taste and smell, but not very well.

Imp- If you search if chickens SMELL? You get a different sort of answer. [IMG]

Mine eat frogs when they can catch them but will not even peck a toad, hate to admit that I know why from child hood, toads taste terrible.

    Yep....

They taste like "chicken" and if you don't clean them regularly...they smell "bad"...
