Can chickens/guineas taste their food, can they smell? I have always wondered this.
I would think they can, why else would they be picky about what they eat and like?
Surely Somebody knows!

My chickens arnt picky about food. They eat like hogs regardless what the food smells or tastes like.
Yes, the can taste, but they don't have very many taste buds:
Mine eat frogs when they can catch them but will not even peck a toad, hate to admit that I know why from child hood, toads taste terrible.
They taste like "chicken" and if you don't clean them regularly...they smell "bad"...
