Hello! We have chicks and I was wondering if we could feed them flax seeds? One of them has wry neck and I read that flax seeds had selenium in them. Thank you!!!!

if you feed them anything but chick feed and water, you need to give them grit. The grit is their teeth which will grind up the seeds in the gizzard so the G.I. tract can digest the nutrients in the feed. Chick feed is specially made so it doesn't need grit to digest it. But seeds and anything else need grit. Just sprinkle some grit on the seeds and the chicks will take it as they need it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/891051/the-science-of-feeding-grit-to-poultry ( all 4 posts)
