can chicks eat too much grit?

    They are two weeks old and I've been giving them treats about 2x a week. We've tried: crickets, meal worms, cream of wheat, and watermelon. I notice them pecking at the grit often, can they eat too much of it? They are going through plenty of feed and water.

    Whatever their body doesn't need will pass through them. No worries.

    So the grit passes through as well? I guess I was thinking that they stored it in their crop....silly newbie. [​IMG]
