Can Cornish X lay eggs?

My husband and I are new to chickens. We were given 6 chicks about 2 months ago, and told they were white leghorns. Well it turns out that they're Cornish X. I know they don't usually live long bc of their rapid growth. They're 10 weeks old and doing great so far! Very friendly! My question is, if they live long enough will they lay eggs??

I had one that we kept and she laid not a lot.

I had a couple live to their first eggs, they died with the strain of laying them.

I was afraid of something like that. I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.
