I found some cream legbars for sale, but when the seller sent me a picture, the rooster had a beard. Is this a common thing that can show up in legbars? I know the crest on the hens are not always present, but I have never heard of the rooster having a beard.

NO. None of them ever should have a beard. Either sex, any age.

Take that hint to mean the birds are not being sold as advertised.

Ok thanks. That's what I thought but I wanted to be sure. The bad thing is he told me he sells the eggs on eBay. I wonder if he sells them on there as pure bred. That is the main reason I have avoided eBay sales.

Never a bad thing to ask or verify first- you did good, asked for pictures, noticed something odd and decided to ask for opinion from another source..

if looking for legbars, there should be reliable sellers on this site and some facebook groups- perhaps there's a legbar group on there too?
