I have a mixed flock of cayugas, harlequins, and Campbells. One of my kids dropped a kumquat yesterday and the girls went ham over it. I'm wondering if I can give them a few of them as a treat? I know that they are not supposed to have citrus on a regular basis, and that it can interfere with egg production if they eat too much, but will it hurt them if it is once in a blue moon?

Every once in a blue moon, no. The issue with the citrus is it interferes with the calcium and can lead to soft shelled eggs - but we’re talking it being a regular part of their diet. Every once in awhile should be just fine.
