Can giving corid to chickens hurt them if they aren’t sick?

I have a white crested polish chicken that is just acting off. Dosing off at random times in random places. Aside from that she seems perfectly fine. I looked this up and other people have said it could be coccidiosis. If I treat one I have to treat all. Is there anything else is could be? Is it possible she is just weird??? Lol

How old is this bird and what is the posture while dozing off?

If the bird is eating and drinking, probably not coccidiosis.

Dosing with amprolium won't hurt a bird. It mimics thiamine to starve out and slow the growth of coccidia. How many other birds in how much space? How long have you had them?

It might just be weird, but if it's a new behavior.. it's worth taking notice!

Thanks for the reply. I’m sorry if this is lengthy. So, tonight there are new developments. Last night She went to sleep on the outside roost with the 2 other polish. I checked on the chickens at 2am and I found she was on the ground. I went out and she perked right up so I picked her up and put her inside the coop with the rest of the chickens. It’s like she fell off the roost. Anyway, her head keeps appearing to be nodding of. Like, it’s too heavy. It always seems to be slowly falling down then she catches it and perks up and within seconds it’s happening again. She free ranges totally normal. Eating and moving fine. I haven’t seen her eating any feed or drinking any water only because i just haven’t caught her in those moments. She is maybe 8 weeks old. She does sit alone sometimes. First thing yesterday morning I let them all out and when she came out she roamed for about 5 minutes then sat down and did her sleeping thing. Anyway, don’t want to treat if not necessary. Maybe I’ll quarantine her today with her own food and water to see how much she consumes. Here is a pic of her dosing from yesterday morning.

That doesn't look like coccidiosis but treating would not hurt.

Monitoring intake and output is a good ideal, maybe even crop function... checking that it's empty first thing in the morning before access to feed and water.

What are you feeding including treats and supplements?

This am i separates her with her own food and water and she ate and drank totally fine. The only treats she gets is frozen watermelon and the only supplement is a probiotic in the water once a week. I remember last week one of my other chickens jumped out of the coop and landed on one of the polish. They can’t see anything so she didn’t have any warning. She didn’t get squished, she scampered right away. I don’t know if this was the polish that got bonked but it’s possible she was injured. Now, with this info, what are your thoughts?

See if you can watch her until she poops and get a fresh poop picture.

How long have you had this bird and did you add it to an existing flock?
