Can Hens raise day old chicks?

I have 2 Barred Rock hens that are each over a year old. One is more motherly than the other but neither is broody. I'm wondering if I get a small order of Cornish Xs if my hens will take care of the chicks? Does anyone have experience with this?

Not until they become broody. Has sat on dummy eggs for two weeks or so then sneak the day old chicks underneath them at night time. Make them think they've actually hatched the eggs themselves
