Can I "despur" my BR tom like I did the roosters?

I have a 2yo BR tom and several hens. I think 2 of the hens had mating wounds this summer. there were big slices under the wings and across the back. One has healed and one died. I plan to keep "Ole" for 2 more years, because he's such a good flock master and he's beautiful. But, if he's hurting the hens from mating, it defeats the purpose. His spurs are a good inch long.

I'm so glad you asked this.....I don't know the answer but I will be watching. I'm new to turkeys, I have a hen and a tom, but they're young yet......

My guess would be that I think you could de-spur them, just like a chicken. Let's see what the more experienced turkey owners have to say:
