Hubby bought an 80lb bag of steel cut oats. There is NO WAY that we're going to be able to eat all of that before it goes rancid (because it's not whole grain). Can I give some to the coturnix for a treat?

Emily They Should Be Ok In Small Quantities... Or You Could Use Them To Make Geotta (german Breakfast Meat--- Like Scrapple Without The Yucky Scrap Meat) It's Easy To Make And You Can Freeze It So It Will Last Quite A While.

Quote:Gonna look that up...always looking for a new culinary adventure.

I read that larger amounts can dilute the protein they consume...so I'll definately watch for that.

I just gave mine steel cut oats this morning for the first time. They couldn't get enough.
