Hello BYC community, I have 10 chicks that are 11 days old, but I am thinking about getting 4 more day old baby chicks. Are they young enough to integrate together or should I separate them?

Thanks a bunch!

I'd keep them separate, ideally in the same brooder so they can see each other, but not interact. Once the young chicks get older, the other chicks will be familiar with them and this should ease integration.

Yes, you can do so with caution. I like to put a bit of a divider between the 2 groups for a bit, then introduce them gradually. You can even start introductions by putting the older ones in with the littles one at a time, until all of the older ones have spent some time with the littles, then move the divider. I never introduce babies unless they have got their balance and are moving and eating well. You also must be aware of the different temperature needs, and be sure the brooder is big enough so that they aren't crowded.
