Can I put a mirror in with my single (rescued) Guinea Fowl keet?

Hey everyone, I rescued a little Guinea Fowl (Cape Town, South Africa) on Saturday. It's very small and seemed to have an injured leg. Not sure how old it is but I would say its pretty young.

It's now day 5, I have a box setup for him/her to live in, it has a incubator heater, some water, food, and wood shavings. I regularly let him out to walk around my apartment and explore, and hold him often throughout the day (as does my partner). But whenever we put him in his box, he chirps a LOT. Non-stop. Previously if we let him walk around the apartment, he would also be quiet and chirp lightly, but now hes chirping a lot. Is he lonely?

I've just put a mirror in his box, and hes pretty silent now. But im worried hes scared or its bad for him. Hes perched on his teddy bear craning his neck looking at the mirror. When I walk close, he gets more comfortable and walks near the mirror (see the video)

Second Video taken 20min later (I took him out for 15min and he had a nap and I put him back):

A small mirror is fine. Adding a feather duster suspended just off the bedding can also be appreciated.

It appears that you probably captured a day or two old keet.

I would give it a much bigger box and use sand rather than wood chips for the bedding. They can and do eat wood chips but cannot digest them unless they have appropriate sized grit in their system.

I would try to avoid human imprinting it but suspect that you have already imprinted it.

Proper feed for a guinea keet is a high protein turkey or game bird starter.

Hers was older at the time she got it and in the end it did not survive.
Hellooooo,

I got mine when it was a day old, and it died due to complications of a respiratory infection brought on by an unfortunate incident.

I live in Cape Town too... I will private message you my contact details.
