can my chicks breathe ok?

the Dixie fire (northern California) is 30 miles away from us, but we are covered in smoke! i feel dumb asking, but is it ok if my chicks breathe in a lot of smoke?

We aren't getting any ash





and my chick's name is ash!

It's not good for you or your animals, but if you don't have anywhere to evacuate to, you probably don't have a choice but to put up with it. You may want to consider locking them in the coop and covering any ventilation with wet towels to help reduce particulates coming in, but depending on your set up that might not be possible/practical.
