Can my chicks live outside yet?

    They are now 5-7 weeks old. It has been in the 40s at night and the 50s-70s during the day.

    It all depends if they have the proper feathers that can keep them warm during the day and night. Do they have their grown-up-feathers yet. or do they still have their baby-chicken feathers?

    how feathered are they? chick feathers or adult? fully feathered is a must for them to go outside. if they are silkies, wait longer.
    also, what state are you from? I want to live where it only gets down to 40!! [​IMG]

    They have some baby feathers left but mostly are fully feathered out. If I put a heat lamp in the coop can they go outside?
