Can Saddle Homers Home?

    I love the look of saddle homers and was thinking of getting some. Can they still home and race, or are they just show birds now?

    Yes they can. It just depends on who you get them from. Make sure you buy them from someone who does fly them. Most people do, I think.

    agree that as long as they have been bought from someone that has continued the homing instinct and has breed for that and releases tomake sure and all that...

    I doubt they would hold up in a race though as the race birds have only been bred for racing for such a long time withno respect for coloring...well..pretty much...ya know what I means

    It's very possible to have good racing quality and color, however, it takes a bit more time and effort. The probem with saddles is that it's a complex color and hard to keep mismarks away.

    Usually, no. You can get varying amounts of mismarks though.
