Sores and scabs. Had a lot of rain lately
Looks like Fowl Pox. You can read about it here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/avian-pox-how-to-treat-your-chickens-for-avian-pox
Poor hen, I would also post her photo at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread
I think just kill it n eat it for dinner, the disease will spread to other chickens n to other pets too
If you cull her, do NOT eat her. You can get sick if you eat a sick chicken.
Serioulsy? You can get sick eating a sick chicken? Even cooked to the proper temperature of 165F? Not that I would eat a chicken with pox, but what if a chicken was sick and you didn't know it?
Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. So sorry to hear about your girl. I hope it's not serious. Good luck!
I don't know about getting sick, which IS actually somewhat possible, but its definitely not Kosher. I would be extremely upset if I came over for dinner and was served a sick or dying bird.
And on the note of it spreading it to others...We have burn pit to stop that
But FYI, it does look like pox
thanks so much for ur remark......I have my girls. Chickens as pets and the thought of eating one of them is unimaginable
Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you joined us!
