can turkeys and chickens share a coop?

I am new to this and I have what may seem a dumb question. I am building a coop for 6-8 hens and 1 rooster for laying. I am considering adding a couple of turkeys for meat. Can they share the same pen/coop?

I have a pair of turkeys that stay with my chickens. They do free range during the day so they have lots of room but go to the coop to roost at night. If not free ranging I'm not sure if it would work well. Turkeys are huge and some toms find anything attractive.

Yes, mine share a coop with no problems.

I thought keeping chickens and turkeys together was a no-no due to disease passed from the chooks to the turkeys?
