My daughter, a vegetarian, brought me one of her chickens that had been killed by a dog. The dog broke the chicken's neck. It has been in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for the past 10 hours. Can I wait until tomorrow to bleed, pluck and gut the chicken? Or is it already too late?

I have one in the refrigerator an owl took the head. I wait until rigor mortis has passed because it's easier to work with.... and I throw them in the plucker.

Used to be common to hang pheasant for days

Yep but I think all that is gutted first. All our meat is hung but it's only sides of meat. The feathers aren't a biggie but I'd be worried about the guts imo

It's not gutted for hanging.... The really old cook books say get a bird not drawn for stuffing because the butcher makes the removal hole too big.
