We're getting ready to "spring clean" the coop and run. This time I want to completely change out the PDZ on the poopboard. Can it be spread on the garden along with the pine shavings from the coop and deep litter from the run ? We have some beautiful compost out in the run!

I've wondered the same thing. I know it helps out big time in horse stalls.

PDZ won't hurt the garden or compost, it actually 'holds' the nitrogen/ammonia and will release it....
.......but chicken poop should really be aged before applying to food plants.
And wood chips/shavings can use up nitrogen as it decomposes if mixed into the soil.

The PDZ's won't harm my birds if it's on the bottom with shavings on top? I've never used it in my coop.

It won't hurt them even if they are right on it.....I, and many others, use it in my brooder and on the poop boards.
