Can you guys help me to see if my chicks are sex linked?

    So today I had some chicks hatch. My rooster is a Black Copper Maran and my hens are Red Commets (which I'm pretty sure is a Red Sex Link). Now, I thought that once you had a sex link you had to have another pure bred cross in order to receive another sex link. But, when my chicks hatched some had black down and others had yellow down. Should I be able to sex them?

    I don't think so. Red sex links are already a mix, but it won't work. If you crossed your BCM rooster with a barred pattern hen then you could sex link because the barring would only be passed on to the male offspring.
