We bought a few eggs at a Poultry Show and hatched them. What I thought we got was two gray Americauna cross chickens that look similar to a sapphire gem. I’ve never seen a feather pattern like these. Similar to a slw, but different.

At hatch, these looked dark black like barred rock chicks except no head spot. A little yellow twinge under belly. Greenish legs.

Here we are at about three weeks and they have a white stripe on the center of feathers (whatever the hard part of the feather is) with some white flecks on back and side and almost completely white chest feathers. Puffy Americauna cheeks with brown on heads. Any ideas? What will these look like as adults? Certainly not like Sapphire Gems. The black and white feathers in a non Dominique or barred rock style have me stumped.

I was told Dominique or Barred Rock hen x Blue Wheaton or Silver Americana roo parentage. Looking at chicks of those, I only see some type of Americauna.

Hard to say on breed, I just see Easter Eggers. They remind me of this photo, but it’s not my picture. One in the front has similar feather patterning but mine are darker with a black heads. How can you tell they would be roosters this early? I don’t see enough comb development yet. I have a Silverudd Blue Isbar same age and it has a red comb already.

Thickness of legs, presence of budding wattles and how they stand

Okay, these two are now 13.5 weeks. Curious if you all still think they are cockerels. One has a more white head and the other more black.
