Can you sex a chick by the amount of space between it's tail feathers?

  1. Hi,
I have 2 chicks that are 5 1/2 wks. old.

I remember reading on here sometime that the amount of space between the tail feathers can indicate the sex of the chick.

Does anyone know? I can't keep any more roos.

Where did you see it? I don't remember reading that... [IMG]

ETA: By 5.5 weeks you should already be seeing the beginnings of gender. A few pics would help, more pointers would be the combs, wattles, how fast they were to feather out... etc. [IMG]

I just remember when someone was talking about the sex of some chicks someone pointed out the size of the space between tail feathers.

Yes I need pics. It's just that I am the worst pic taker EVER. Holy cow ppl's pics here from a camera phone are better than mine. [IMG]
  4. Ya, I just heard some one say that to me today! [IMG]
