I have two chicks in my brooder and one has a couple long feathers all in the same place and the other is still growing rows of feathers. is the longer feathers the rooster and the rows are the hens?

Some breeds can be sexed by feathers. Sometimes roosters feather out more slowly than pullets. What breed you are asking about will determine if feather growth is a factor to be considered.
