I read someplace that the females were dark and the males were lighter as chicks.
I only have one Golden Cuckoo Maran that hatched out and I think this qualifies as lighter.

Can anyone confirm? Such a mellow little chick. He's in with the hamburgs and not causing any issues. Likes to snuggle. Was putting the meanie chicks pecking in their place when they tried to 'investigate' him with their beaks.

So do you think this is a roo?

My vote is for a boy - he looks just like my cockerel I hatched out Jan 1. He was extremely friendly as a chick and would even call for me from across the house if his buddies weren't giving him enough entertainment.

Quote:Yes, he is darlilng. I am sad I can not have roosters because I am very fond of him already.
I have a home for him on a farm that has all pullets. He will be very happy.

I hope I can do half as well for any other little roos in my bunch.

Thank you so much for your reply!
