We have been proudly developing poultry feeds for nearly 100 years. Through the years, our goals have remained consistent: to provide optimum nutrition for happy and healthy flocks. Beyond that top goal, we always work to evolve with the industry so that we have options for every flock. Today, our poultry feeds are formulated specifically for the long-term health and happiness of backyard flocks – no matter if your goal is organic eggs, quick bird growth, strong shells, bird health or a combination of those goals. Our nutrition focus is complete feeds. This means that all the nutrients the bird needs are included right in one bag of feed. We go even further to make sure that each bite the chicken takes contains the proper nutrients. Choosing a complete feed is the most important nutrition decision you can make because the complete feed should comprise at least 90 percent of your bird’s diet. Here are some quick tips on choosing a complete feed for your flock: For chicks, from day 1 to 18 weeks: For organic flocks: Purina® Organic Starter-Grower For chicks that were vaccinated for coccidiosis: Purina® Start & Grow® Non-Medicated For chicks that were not vaccinated for coccidiosis: Purina® Start & Grow® Medicated Avoid feeding treats until birds reach 18 weeks old to prevent diluting key nutrients needed for growth and development. For laying hens, starting at 18 weeks: For organic eggs: Purina® Organic Layer Pellets or Crumbles For eggs with added omega-3: Purina® Layena® Plus Omega-3 For strong shells and fresh eggs: Purina® Layena® At 18 weeks, you can begin offering treats and snacks, if you’d like. To prevent dilution of key nutrients, work to limit treats to 10 percent of the overall diet. For meat birds, mixed flocks and birds during molt: For organic flocks: Purina® Organic Starter-Grower For traditional flocks: Purina® Flock Raiser® If you would like information on other poultry species or have follow-up questions about any of our feeds, please comment below and we will get back to you!
