is it too early to tell what breed these chicks are?? thanks
I think its a bit too early to tell but I would guess something with black?
I agree that it is still to early to tell. Many chicks look alike when they are just hatched babies. You will probably have to wait until they feather out a bit more before you will be able to tell for sure. The do have grey legs, so that should be able to give someone a pretty good hint as to what they are though.
Agree, too early to tell. But they sure are CUTE! I have 42 eggs in the Hovabator and 25 hatchery chicks ordered to add to them. Can't wait til the little cuties all arrive (Nov 13-18).
Congrats on your babies. Where did you get them?
To early to tell. My guesses are Barred Rocks, Austrolorps, or Jersey Giants. Those are the most likely breeds.
i got them from the local product shop,I got these to replace my old isabrowns.
The chicks legs are black and the bottoms of there feet are mostly black with abit of white/lighter black.
Do they have a spot of white under their chins?
Quote:I don't think they can be Rocks b/c they have dark legs and no white stuff on top of the head.
Quote:Not to argue, but both Aussies and Jersey Giants have more white/cream/yellow on them than these chicks (at least, as far as I can see). And BR should have a dot on their heads, along with the white parts. IF they have a white spot on their throats, my guess would be Black Sex Links.
