At day 6 of our first attempt at hatching chicks. I have 12 Ameracuna & 12 Black Marans. The Marans are really dark brown, Can these be candeled by a rookie?

It seems it will be difficult to see anything, The green Ameracuna may be just as difficult

    Please, advise is welcome

Depends on your candler. I use a slide projector with a 300 watt bulb. Works great. I could see through Welsummer eggs just fine. Some of those expensive flashlights are probably even better, the ones that cost over $50. You'd probably have to wait till at least Day 10 development stage, though.

I had a hard time seeing into my welsummer eggs. Never did see veins, but I saw movement at Day 9 in some and Day 12 in the rest. Get the brightest light you can find.
