Hiya peeps of the internet!

Just like Obi Wan, you are my only hope. We had a duck recently start nesting above our pool after a few days we noticed she abandoned the nest. As ducks come and go freely during nesting (this is the second duck to chose this location this year) we assumed she would come back; however, the next morning she was no where to be seen.

We waited all day before collecting the eggs and putting them in an incubator in hopes she would return (we have crows who have been bothering her and we think they ran her off as there was feathers of both species around) the nest had 3 eggs and I was just able to candle them for the first time today Bc I did not have a flashlight.

As I have no idea what I’m looking for other than veins, I’m a little lost. I don’t think there are any and when combing through the internet for answers my unprofessional diagnosis of these eggs is embryonic death.

I’m not even sure what the eggs are supposed to look like or how old they would even be. I’ve been keeping them in an incubator at the suggested temperature and humidity levels and have been turning them (although I think they are dead). Can someone more experienced lend a hand and tell me what I have here?
Thank you so much.

I would go out on a limb and say that the eggs are no good. I didn’t see any veins and though it did look like an embryo had started in at least two of the eggs they don’t look like they are growing any longer.

Sorry, trying to find your first post so that I can look again. But I believe that the egg that is clearer than the others did even start. Does that help?

Wow, kinda hard to tell. How old are the eggs?
That’s the problem I have no clue, there is no movement other than I think number 1’s yolk moves. Like no baby movement or veins. I know she was sitting on the nest on Wednesday because we had a rouge duckling end up in our pool from a whole different duck family. Then Thursday she was gone, Friday morning still gone, Friday evening we took the eggs in and built a makeshift incubator. Saturday night I picked up an incubator from a coworker and they’ve been in there since. I would have to guess maybe a week or a little older/younger. I’m guestimating at this point. I know my dad said they would hatch in mid October Bc that would’ve been 28 days

Which two if you don’t mind me asking? That way I can learn. I kind of figured they died. My dad wants to give them a few more days and if nothing develops then we will call it.
