Do your gees do those? Yesterday morning there was a breeze with a hint of fall in it. [IMG] I cleaned the kiddy pool and filed it like we do ever other day or so. Now mind you the pool had been full of water and the two boys had been swimming just ten minuets or so before. When is was half filled they came running across the yard full bore and dove, I mean they actually went airborne, wings flapping, over the side and plunged into the water headfirst. Then they proceeded to do tumblesets, flipping tail over head and doing barrel rolls. Now I’ve seen them duck dive before but this was a first. I almost split my sides laughing. [IMG] At one point they both got airborne getting out the pool, got a whole six inches off the ground for three feet, [IMG] made a lap across the yard and back “dove” in again and went on with the show. They did it for about ten minutes. They are a trip!!!!!!!!! [IMG][IMG]

Mine did that a few days ago. It is great fun to see their joy! I empty and refill their pool daily, but hadn't seen the flapping/running/diving in a while.

My geese did that every day when I changed the water in the kiddie pool. They started when I turned the hose on. It was hilarious!

They spent a lot of time in the pool, so the water was green every morning. My guess is they were just SO excited about the fresh water - it had to come out some way or they would burst. [IMG]

My gander likes to roll over on his back and float like a fat tourist at the beach. He flaps his wings wide open and just lazes there for a few minutes then rolls over and starts splashing half the water out of the pool.

sometimes you have to be careful when the water isn't deep enough in the pools because they can get on there backs and get stuck. Has happened to one of our geese! Sad

I have a large pond about the size of an olympic swimming pool. My four geese (two Embden and two Chinese) get in there and dive under and will swin submerged for a long way. They flip and flop, turn themselves upside down and sideways. They remind me of a bunch of kids in the local swimming hole. I love to watch them, there is such joy in what they are doing, they actively play with each other.

I'm sorry it took me so long. I'm nit much of a techno geek and it took me a while to figure out how to get these on here. Anyway, here are video of Fred and Ethel cavorting in the pond. Fred is the white Chinese and Ethel is the Embden. Unfortuneately just after I shot these clips Fred was killed by what we believe to be a bobcat of coyote. Ethel now is happly mated to a beautiful Embden named Goostoff and I have aquired two Brown Chinese named Ping and Pong.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Presenting Fred and Ethel Do the Pond!
