I noticed one of my hens foot was swollen on the side, so I assumed bumblefoot. I did my research on how to treat bumblefoot and couldn't find any information on the side of the foot, but got my supplies ready and made sure I didn't eat right before.
I soaked her foot in warm Epsom salt water and upon further inspection, I noticed the skin easily coming loose from this hard clump. With a little bit of coaxing and no blood, it popped right out. Inside the hole was nice, pink, healthy looking meat. It doesnt look infected at all. We treated it, wrapped it up, and have her separated. She acts like nothing ever happened.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this and what could it be? My husband called it a cashew nut, and it looks and feels just like a cashew. Any ideas?
(Also, the second picture looks like blood, but it's just vetericyn)
