Egads. DD just came in the house acting all sneaky. She skittered sideways into the bathroom and then darted out the backdoor.

Pretty soon she comes back in holding a washcloth against her wrist. Of course, I must investigate. But before I can even look and see what's going on, she starts telling me that she doesnt know why it happened. She was just petting Miley. She wasnt doing nothin' wrong. Mmmm. Hmmm.

So, the end result is puncture wounds on the top of her wrist and on the bottom of her wrist where all 4 fangs imbedded into her skinny little arms.
AND...on her leg is 4 deep stratches where Miley's back leg clawed into her while trying to climb her arm.

I have cleaned them up and put antibiotic cream on them. Should I do anything else?

I'd personally take her to the doctor immediately. Cat bites are notorious for housing bacteria. There was a woman that I know of that had to have her thumb amputated, all because "Fluffy" decided to take a snag at her hand. She cleaned up the wound and thought nothing of it...punctures are hard because there's only one outlet...oral antibiotics may stop something before it can start.

Not that this is a factor but....are they gonna report me to animal control or childrens services?

Surely not. Animal bites happen...scratches happen..I'd think you'd be fine. I'd call and explain that a neighbor's pet bit your daughter. It had it's shots and everything, but you need to know what else to do to prevent infection. Maybe call the nurse's line at the ER and see what she says? You don't need to give your information, just explain the situation.

i'd take her to the doctors immediately!! my dad was bit my our cat (he had to punch her in the face to get her off his arm) and his arm grew to the size of a football. i told him about your daughter and he suggested you take her to urgent care and "get her fixed" lol. those are his words.



btw we still have our kitty. she doesn't bite anymore lol

Oral antibiotics would probably be a good idea with cat puncture wounds. These things can flare up over night if you aren't careful. I know several people who have ended up in the ER on IV antibiotics a few days later after cleaning up a cat bite and one person that nearly lost their hand.

Take a cat bite seriously. I have known several vets over the years that got blood poisoning from cat bites, those fangs are wicked!

Yep....infected. Just got back from the ER. They gave her an anitibiotic there and sent us some with more.

Oh I hope all goes well. My best friend was bit by one our freshman year of high school by a stray in the parkinglot, he almost lost his hand because he refused to go to the docs until his arm turned black. -shrug- Here's to her healing accordingly!

Hope she heals quickly. I got bit by the neighbors cat after saving it from being mauled by 2 stray dogs. Me being hard headed and not wanting to go to the doctor, I don't remember if it was the next day or the day after I woke up with my hand twice the size of normal. They had to cut my wedding ring off, about a weeks worth of antibiotics. I had no idea until the DR told me that the worst animal to get bit by is a cat infection wise.
