I would never dream of letting my two younger cats near the baby chicks--suffice it to say that I went on vacation once and they helped themselves to my pet gecko--but Zoe is another story. Zoe is my fiancee's grandmother's cat who has come to us through family illness. At eight years old with cataracts, a thick, ridiculously soft coat and the stamina and enthusiasm of broccoli, I thought "Why not?"

A little wary at first, Cochin prepares to make first contact with the beast

She signals to Ensign Ameraucana the 'all clear': it appears this creature means them no harm

First Contact continues, with the Chicks testing the friendliness and boundaries of this new species.

Finally, as in most first contacts, the exchange results in the subjugation of the incumbant species.

"Hi ho kitty, and away!"

Thanks to all! I've been letting the chicks play around that cat quite a bit, although two days ago she jumped off the couch with the two chicks still on her back! Thankfully they fell off onto the couch and not the floor!
