I have three bantam hens that refuse to come into the coop, and I can't find where they roost, nor where they lay. There were 4 out, but I caught one a couple of days ago. The other three are so skittish that I can't get near them, and the barn (built in 1790 or thereabouts) is constructed in such a way that there are always little cubbyholes they can get into or out of to evade capture. Anyone know how to catch wild bantams roaming at large?

We've caught lots of our chickens in those 'have a heart' raccoon traps...??? By accident.

1) a good size box
2) a stick
3) a spool of thread
4) yummy bantam treats

set box up, prop up with stick, tie thread to stick, place treats under box, unwind thread all the way into your house, sit by window , when bantam goes under box to get treats, pull thread.............that might work
