Several times in my life I have raised chicks to chickens. Always inside my house in my living room. I have always had cats.Years and years ago I read that, for whatever reason, a domestic cat will not harm a domestic chicken. I have always found this to be true. Some cats are enthralled, some curious in passing, and more than one freaked out and afraid of them. But I have never had a cat actually harm a chick.
Has anyone out there actually saw a tame domestic cat kill a baby chick? Am I the luckiest guy in the world? Do I just happen to raise very polite cats? Please, I don't want a second hand story you heard about. I want to hear from somebody who has seen, with their own eyes, a house cat attack and kill a chick. Thanks!

yes, cats will... i lost my 8 week old buff orpington ( my first one and my fav. breed) to one of my cats, wanted to kill that monster but she is prego....

Chicks in the Living Room? Does the furniture get just a bit dusty?? Really depends on the cat. It varies just as it does with dogs. Our cats can catch and kill robins or sparrows outside in the bushes pretty easy. Chicks are a tempting play toy. Best to keep the chicks secured in mesh and away from the cat. We raise our chicks in a garage brooder.
