Originally I thought I had 4 boys because 4 were larger than the rest. 3 of those kept growing while 1 fell behind and is now even with the other 5...now I THINK I have 2 big boys, and 1 big girl. I asked about growth rates on a Cemani thread but haven't received an answer yet; I need to decide which 3 I will keep so I can sell the rest.

These babies are all about 4 weeks old. There are 9 all together.

They are a bit young yet to be certain, but those with larger slightly pink combs will generally be roosters.

I've never raised this breed before, And since pretty much everything is black I can't tell based off from comb color. But based off from comb size I would say 7 & 5 are cockerels

Hopefully they will not have pink combs; they are supposed to be black. A little mulberry color wouldn't bother me at all, but pink would mean they aren't true Cemanis I think.

That's what I am going by, as well. These are my first Cemanis, and from what I've read so far (I've made it to page 100 of the American Cemani Breeders Club open forum, still have almost 200 pages to go) it seems the combs size is the first physical evidence of sex in most cases.

Thank you both. :)

The bigger combs looked a bit pinkish in the smaller pictures, when I enlarged them, no pink, so my old lady eyes were playing tricks on me. Larger combs would usually mean male is what I should have said. :)
