chcieksn with lice or mites

    i have 5 hens and they all have mites or lice dont know witch i put powder medicine on them yesterday. didnt kill all the mites so i did it again today and there is still some mites. do i need to treat them aggain. they seem o not have the powder medicine on them anymore

    they are mites i used garden and poultry dust.
    i used it today and yesterday does it take a while to start working or somthing

    I never use dusts. Depending on the severity of infestation, you can spray the birds or dip them up to their necks in a Permectrin II or Ravap EC solution. Both can be used as a topical spray, a dip, or premise treatment. I would suggest cleaning out all litter and dust from the coop and nests. Spray Ravap or Permectrin II according to directions. After it dries, put in new shavings. Keeping the house cleaned out every three or four months prevents this problem. It is also a good idea to keep the brush to a minimum around the chicken yard.
