Just got confirmation from Holderreads that my pair of Chestnut call ducks are reserved, will post a photo when they get here. It's shocking all the breeds of ducks that Holderreads will no longer breed this year.

??? are they giving up on breeding????Just got confirmation from Holderreads that my pair of Chestnut call ducks are reserved, will post a photo when they get here. It's shocking all the breeds of ducks that Holderreads will no longer breed this year.
They will no longer breed any call duck or bantam duck breeds, all the runner ducks, and some others. Looks like they are down sizing for retirement.??? are they giving up on breeding????
WOW, that's sad to know..They will no longer breed any call duck or bantam duck breeds, all the runner ducks, and some others. Looks like they are down sizing for retirement.
NICE Like a wine color??By substituting 'claret' for 'chestnut' , a google search finally paid off. On page 47 of Holderreads's 2011 duck book, he states that very dark claret colored chests, sides on silver appleyard color, he calls chestnut appleyards. Apparently he created a call version, or maybe I'm getting miniature chestnut appleyards, will find out soon enough.
The dark reddish color of a mallard drake's chest, very dark, I guess it is sort of a wine red color.NICE Like a wine color??

So far, am thinking the Holderread's chestnut color is about the same as the British call duck club dark silver color.
