Momma hen took her eight 7 week old chicks out the gate today. They have been running around with her in the fenced acre for about a week. I lock them up at dusk. Today I left the gate open for the big girls and an hour later looked out and the chicks were up in the trees out in the woods having a good ole time with Momma. I could not take it too long and had Momma hen round them up and I led them back to the yard. We live in a oak forest with every Chicken eating critter you can name, flying and walking. Been here almost two years and have only lost one to a predator.
