I have a couple ideas about what I am going to make my brooder from and I finally settled on using a cavvy cages idea

have a look at the picture and see what you think. It's relatively cheap and uses square metal panels so that I can make it smaller of bigger when necessary and then you put some coroplast down which works surprisingly well as insulation and is easy to clean. [IMG]

Although I now have a brooder i'm still unsure on what bedding to use as lots of websites say different things, so I wanted to know what your opinion was and what has worked well for you.

Now how high would the panels be? I'm afraid the chicks would fly up and roost on those. My only warning is not to use news paper.

They are about 30 cm each but I can stack about 2 on top of each other and then put netting over the top so that should hopefully keep them in [IMG]
