1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Amerucana, 8 hours, first one to hatch
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Can’t stand. Flapping around. Legs stay out in front, not splayed to the side.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Since hatch.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No others hatched yet.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Came out of the egg this way.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Small bits of water but only when offered on beak. Not eating on own. Added vitamin B.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. no poop yet
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Vitamin B. Adding bandages as you would for splay leg.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? There are no vets that will treat locally. They will only cull.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use shavings until issue noticed. Then on blankets.

Photo shows how legs are always or front.

I'm not an expert, but it looks like it fused in the back. If the chick stays too long in the shell, or sometimes it just happens, they can have their back fuse. I had one hatch like that, and it died in a couple of days. May be genetics or humidity or hatching position...I'm not sure.

I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.

Sorry for its troubles.

Maybe splayed? How did the chick end up doing?
