Will the chick coloration of the fuzz be the same as the adult feathers? I have 20 pumpkin hulsey chick 1/4 of them have varying degrees of black on the fuzz. Should I wait for adult feathers before giving those away

Quote:Chick down and feather color are two very different things they will change some. They will also change as they grow and mature the first feathers are seldom thier final color either. I have one variety that completely changes color at the 18-22 week molt.

The chicks you have with black in the fuzz will grow up to be a normal Wheaten-type color. [IMG] Pumkin Hulseys do not actually breed true, - You get black versions (normal looking games) as well as khaki type versions (the really light ones) and then there's the "Pumpkin" colored versions (what people advertise)

It all depends on how you breed the parents.

    Pumpkin x Pumpkin = 50% pumpkin, 25% normal/black looking ones, 25% light colored ones

    Pumkin x Light
    = 50/50 of each
    Pumkin x Black/Normal Wheaten = 50/50 of each

    Light x Black/Normal Wheaten = 100% Pumpkin
